The 2nd-gen Google Tensor SoC is set to include a brand new modem
This basically confirms that the 2nd-gen Google Tensor SoC will include the g5300 modem (which is not released yet), from Samsung. This is good news. Why? Well, some people seem to have had cellular performance issues with their Pixel 6 series units. IMAGE Mishaal Rahman actually highlights the poor cellular performance of his Pixel 6 Pro. He says that it’s his “biggest issue” with the device he’s been using. The g5300 modem is expected to offer better performance. Google already confirmed that the upcoming Pixel 7 and 7 Pro devices will be fueled by the 2nd-gen Google Tensor processor. The company not only confirmed that the two phones are coming, but showed off their renders during Google I/O. The puzzle is slowly but surely coming together. Both of those phones are expected to launch in October. There’s a slight chance they may arrive in September, but not as likely.
Both devices will offer an updated design, though rather similar to previous-gen models
Both devices will feature an updated design, but will still resemble their predecessors. The most major change will be noticeable on the back, on the camera visor. It will be covered by metal this time around, thus offering better structure and protection. The Pixel 7 will also be a bit smaller than the Pixel 6, thus offering more of a contrast between the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. The regular model is expected to offer a flat display, while the ‘Pro’ unit will ship with a curved panel. Android 13 will come pre-installed on both devices, while you can expect high refresh rate panels on both phones. Google will likely use the same camera sensors on the two phones, at least when it comes to main cameras.
