In The Office: Somehow We Manage, you need to earn money for the business
If you’ve played Venture Capitalist, then you’ll be familiar with the mechanics in this game. In The Office: Somehow We Manage you’re in the familiar office from the show, and your budget has been SEVERELY cut (you only have $5 to use). $5 isn’t enough to sustain a lemonade stand, let alone a paper company, but it’s up to you to take that money and increase it. One good thing about this app is the appearance of the characters we all know and love from the show. You start off with Jim, and every two seconds, he produces $5. You tap on the money to cash it out and add it to the company account. You add on more leads as he works, and the more leads he has, the more money he cashes out. As you earn more money, you then unlock Dwight who makes more every time he cashes out. After that, you then unlock Stanley, Angela, Kevin, and so on. You continue this trend and earn more money as the workday goes on. When you earn enough money, you can start automating people. They will automatically cash out their money while you focus on the other characters. After each workday, the money you start off with resets, but all the upgrades you made stay with the characters.
This game is really funny
The Adventure Capitalist-style gameplay can get monotonous, which is why it’s broken up with a steady supply of dialogue. At the very beginning, most of the dialogue centers around the tutorial, but it still has character. The dialogue in The Office: Somehow We Manage is downright hilarious. Since the original show is a comedy, it’s only fitting that the dialogue is funny. The dialogue and banter in the game capture the spirit of the show to a tee. All of the characters share the same sort of hilarious lines and perform the same sort of hijinks as in the show. We have Dwight’s awkward remarks, Stanley’s aloof attitude, Jim and unspoken attraction, and of course Michael’s nutty and impulsive personality. Along with the conversations between the characters, there are the talking head sections as well. The Office: Somehow We Manage is a free-to-play game, so there are in-app purchases. However, they don’t really get in the way of playing the game. You have the option to buy coffee and Scottcoins using real money, and that’s pretty much it.
