That’s where Deezer’s new hum search for the SongCatcher feature comes in. If you know part of the tune, you can hum or even whistle the parts you know and Deezer will attempt to find the song. Google added this feature to search back in 2020. But Deezer seems to be doing things a little differently by letting you also whistle or sing the song as well. The streaming music service takes it one step further by doing more than just finding the song. Deezer also says it’s the first global music streaming app to add the ability to identify tracks by humming.

The Deezer hum search option will add songs to your playlist

Once you’re done humming the tune of the song you’re trying to find, Deezer will give you the option to add the track straight to your playlist. It sounds like a smart move. Because chances are you aren’t trying so hard to figure out a song title to not listen to it after you discover it. There’s also an easy option to swap to identify a song if one is playing by tapping a button at the bottom. So either way you’ll have an easy way to discover new music or old favorites. While being first to add a feature like this isn’t necessarily groundbreaking for a streaming service, it’s surely useful. And there’s little doubt that subscribers will probably make use of it quite a bit. And depending on its popularity, it wouldn’t be surprising to see this sort of track identification makes its way into other music streaming apps like Spotify or even YouTube Music. Google does own YouTube Music after all, so it seems like a no-brainer to add a hum search when it already offers one its main Google Search function.
