Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 drop test

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 have an Armor Aluminum body with Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and back. Samsung has also put in some damping materials on the inside for shock absorption. The inner folding display is, of course, a UTG (ultra-thin glass) panel that is too vulnerable to scratches and breaks. So, while the devices are pretty strong and well-equipped to handle a few drops from small heights, they aren’t unbreakable. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 were first dropped on their back from a height of one meter. They suffered minor scratches on the metallic frame but the rear glass remained unscathed. The second round saw the devices dropped on their hinges and the damage was more noticeable. The story is pretty much the same when the phones were dropped with the font sides facing down. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 suffered a minor crack on the rear panel but the Galaxy Z Fold 4 was still intact apart from some aesthetic damages along the edge. Next, the phones were dropped with their cover screens facing down. This time, the Flip model’s front glass shattered, though the screen still worked. There was no substantial damage to the Fold. Note that the former had its cover screen slightly protruding out of the body. So it may have contributed to the glass cracking. Both devices continue to work fine, though.

These Samsung foldables are pretty strong

The two phones were next dropped on their inner folding screens, and the story is the same; there was hardly any visible damage. So, they increased the height to one and a half meters and dropped the phones half folded on their screens. And tell you what, they survive without any substantial damage. Finally, Phone Buff dropped the phones half folded on their hinges. This was when the rear glass of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 broke. The channel also said that the hinge was feeling less smooth, but there was no effect on either phone’s functionality. Overall, it is safe to say that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are built pretty strong. They should easily survive a few drops on the floor from your pocket or couch. But it’s always a good idea to put a case on these expensive foldables. You never know when tragedy might strike. You can check out the full drop test of the latest Samsung foldables below.
