The leak accessed by German site Winfuture reveals a total of six Garmin smartwatches, including the aforementioned Venu 2 Plus. This probably puts a damper on the company’s plans to retain some mystery ahead of the wearables’ official unveiling. First of the leaked wearables is the Garmin Epix Gen2 which brings built-in GPS, an altimeter, heart-rate monitoring, blood oxygen saturation monitoring, and sleep tracking, to name a few. Naturally, the wearable will also include the standard suite of fitness-related features under the hood. The report claims that the Epix Gen2 will be made of fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate and 316L stainless steel. So it’s no surprise that the wearable is backed by MIL-STD-810 certification and water resistance of up to 100 meters. The images reveal a total of five physical buttons on the smartwatch.
Garmin could unveil these wearables at CES 2022 early next month
The leak also reveals the Garmin Fenix 7, Fenix 7S, and the Fenix 7X. Interestingly, all variants are made of 316L stainless steel. Some models will also offer solar panels to charge the wearable when you’re on the move. Unfortunately, the leak doesn’t include pictures of the Fenix 7X. But we do know that the Fenix 7 and the Fenix 7S will be available in 47mm and 42mm variants, respectively. These two variants also support MIL-STD-810 and water resistance of up to 100 meters. Much like the Epix Gen2, the Fenix 7 and 7S would also provide five physical buttons. Moving on, the Instinct 2 and Instinct 2S bring improved battery efficiency thanks to the onboard e-ink display. The two Instinct models bring five physical buttons in addition to built-in GPS, advanced fitness metrics, heart-rate monitoring, MIL-STD-810 certification, etc. At least one variant of the Instinct 2 will support solar charging. Lastly, the images of the Garmin Venu 2 Plus reveal that it can track your heart rate and count your steps. But we also learn that the wearable will be water-resistant for up to 50 meters while also packing GPS/multi-GNSS for precise route tracking without a paired smartphone. The Venu 2 Plus shown here appears to be a 43mm model. But it’s unclear if Garmin will have additional variants. The wearable uses Gorilla Glass over the OLED screen for added protection. As GSMArena points out, this wearable could also provide offline music playback. Garmin might reveal all or some of these wearables at CES 2022 in just over two weeks from now.
