The Galaxy S22 expected to launch in January, as planned
As most of you know, the Galaxy S21 series launched in January last year. That was the first time Samsung announced its S series flagships in January. It usually announces them in the second half of February, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC). Well, MWC didn’t exactly take place in February or March this year, instead, it was a virtual event in June. It wasn’t even a shadow of regular MWC events, as many companies backed out of it due to COVID-19. That being said, Samsung decided to separate itself entirely from that timeframe, and simply announce its devices earlier. It probably did that to try and steal some of Huawei’s consumers as well. We were unsure whether the Galaxy S22 series will arrive in January, or H2 of February, but it seems like Samsung is aiming for a January release. What happened this year wasn’t a one-time thing, it appears. The Elec didn’t share much information about the launch, it simply said that things seem to be progressing as they should, and based on such information, the January launch seems quite likely.
Mass production is set to kick off in November
Mass production of Galaxy S22 units will allegedly start in November, so a January launch seems like a logical move for Samsung. This is all unconfirmed information, of course, so take it with a grain of salt. The Galaxy S22 series will be the first to be equipped with AMD’s GPU. Samsung and AMD are collaborating on a next-gen flagship Exynos SoC, which will allegedly be called the Exynos 2200. Not all Galaxy S22 models will be equipped with this processor, though. Samsung is also planning to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon flagship. So… it remains to be seen which markets will get it.
