Firstly, we have a Galaxy Watch 5 sitting on its charging puck, with the screen showing 45% charged. It appears we are looking at the visual version of a previous leak from the same source, claiming that the new Samsung smartwatch would charge from 0 to 45% in just 30 minutes. It supports 10W fast charging, twice the speed the company offered with the Galaxy Watch 4 last year. These numbers are likely for the base model (40mm) though, which reportedly packs a 284mAh battery. The 44mm Galaxy Watch 5 (410mAh) and the 45mm Galaxy Watch 5 Pro (590mAh) would take longer to reach the same level of charge. Nonetheless, Samsung is taking a huge leap forward regarding the battery life of its smartwatches. The latest leak contains two more promo images highlighting the Galaxy Watch 5’s health tracking features. Samsung is promoting the advanced sleep monitoring capabilities of the watches, as well as other wellness features. The slide notes that you will need specific versions of the Samsung Health app to access certain features. Lastly, we have a slide that shows the Galaxy Watch 5 and the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro in all their glory. It appears to be the header image for the product landing page on Samsung’s official website for Spain. The promo image mentions a free Galaxy Buds Live for those who pre-order the new smartwatches. This offer will be valid until the 25th of August. The general sales are expected to begin the next day.
The Galaxy Watch 5 series will shake up Wear OS smartwatches
Samsung entered the Wear OS smartwatch market last year with the Galaxy Wath 4 series. The company’s previous Galaxy Watch models run its in-house Tizen OS. It significantly improved the Korean firm’s smartwatch offerings. Samsung is now preparing to shake things up in the Wear OS market with the Galaxy Watch 5 series in a couple of days. The new models would address a lot of issues in this space, with the battery life being one of the biggest. Samsung’s big launch event is scheduled for this Wednesday, August 10. Along with the Galaxy Watch 5 series, the event will also see the unveiling of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.
