As of this writing, the Galaxy Z Flip is receiving Android 12 on Sprint’s network. But it shouldn’t be long before the OTA (over the air) rollout hits units on other carriers. You can lookout for an update with firmware version F700USQS4FUL9 in the coming days. The Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update brings plenty of goodies to Samsung’s original clamshell folding phone. We have some UI changes, new features and enhancements, improved stock apps, and a lot more to look forward to. Additionally, the latest update for the Galaxy Z Flip introduces the December 2021 Android security patch, SamMobile has confirmed. It’s not the latest available as the company has already rolled out the January 2022 SMR (security maintenance release) to a handful of devices. It has also detailed the contents of this month’s patch. The January SMR also roll out to this phone a few weeks from now. As far as updating your Galaxy Z Flip to Android 12 is concerned, you probably know the drill. You will receive a notification when the OTA update becomes available for your phone. You can also manually check for updates by navigating to your phone’s Settings > Software update menu tapping on Download and install. Since it’s a major Android update, the download package could weigh well over 2GB. So it’s advisable to connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network to avoid incurring unwanted cellular data charges. It’s also a safe practice to create a backup of important files before installing big software updates.
