The first and foremost enhancement to the mentioned Garmin smartwatches is the battery life improvement. The company says the SatIQ “will automatically turn on multi-band GPS in areas where it’s needed most, like narrow canyons or downtown areas with tall buildings, then turn it off when it’s no longer needed.” The goal is to “ensure athletes get the most out of their battery.” Athletes and regular Garmin smartwatch owners can also monitor their heart rate variability (HRV) status while sleeping. The feature could help them better understand their health condition and sleep quality.

Garmin smartwatches get a bunch of new cool features after a software update

The company also adds a “Morning report” feature to its wearables. When paired with a smartphone, the feature can provide watch owners with “day’s weather and daily workout suggestions, as well as information about last night’s sleep and HRV status.” You can also customize the reports. Another feature is a “Race widget” that provides users with race prep information. The feature includes “a race day-specific performance prediction, race day weather, and a countdown clock.” Additionally, Garmin has updated the training status of its products. As said, the company has brought HRV status, recent exercise history, and performance. Thanks to these new features, athletes can now receive “insights into their overall effort and whether they are training productively, peaking or strained.” Finally, a stock tracker is added to the smartwatches. Once you pair it with the Stocks app, you can keep track of up to 50 stocks. The software update is also heading to the Garmin Edge 1040 series of cycling computers. As per the company report, these devices will get a “Music controls” feature for controlling music through the device. The training status in Edge devices is also updated in the same way as smartwatches. The “intensity minutes” allow users to see when they’ve reached the peak of their training. There is even more. Garmin brought ‘Full eBike support’ to the Edge device. From now on, users can connect to ANT or ANT+ compatible ebikes and receive relevant data. The company has started to roll out the update this week. If you own any of these eligible devices, you can check for updates through Garmin Express or by enabling automatic updates.
