Coming from Tango Gameworks, Ghostwire: Tokyo puts you in the middle of the modern-day metropolis after paranormal entities have taken over the city. Nearly all of the city’s inhabitants have mysteriously disappeared. And you’re now faced with confronting legions of ghosts and paranormal beings inspired by Japanese folklore as you try to figure out what’s going on.
Take a deep dive into all of the cool abilities in Ghostwire: Tokyo
In terms of gameplay, Ghostwire: Tokyo is a first-person action game with a mix of mystical arts and weapon-based combat. As you progress through the game, you’ll end up learning a wide range of abilities. Through a skill called Ethereal Weaving. Which looks like its half ninjutsu hand signs from Naruto and half magic. These abilities are also upgradeable. And they’ll be paramount to your success in felling some of the game’s more challenging enemies. But you’ll also be able to dispatch your foes with more “traditional and mystical tools.” Such as a bow and arrow, mystical paper bombs and more. City exploration is also a big part of the game and you’re encouraged to see what’s out there. Players will be able to walk or run throughout much of the city on the ground. But you’ll also be able to take to the skies using a sort of mystical grappling hook ability. While the video showcase is about 20 minutes long, the gameplay takes up about 10 minutes of that. Following the gameplay, there’s about 10 minutes of insider discussion with the development team on various parts of the game. The showcase is worth a watch if you’ve been interested in this release. And yes, you can pet the dogs in Ghostwire: Tokyo. Just in case you forgot. Ghostwire: Tokyo is set to launch on PS5 and PC on March 25.
