The mass majority of Google apps look wildly different now from how they did just a year ago. They were all given the Material You paint job, and we’re all familiar with that aesthetic. While this is true, Google has still been making changes to its apps after the big overhaul.
The Google Contacts app just got a redesign
The changes continue with the Google Contacts app. This is the hub for all of the contacts saved on your Google account. All of the contacts are synced online, so you can transfer them between phones just by logging into your Google account. It was already useful to start off with, but now, there are some changes. In the previous version, when you would tap on the hamburger menu on the top left, it would show you a shelf with options like All Accounts, the current account, Merge & Fix, Trash, and your labels. However, after the change, that shelf will only show the accounts and labels. The Merge & Fix option was moved to a bar on the bottom of the screen along with a Contacts button. The bar gives you quick access to those two options no matter where you are in the app. The Merge & Fix option saw a revamp in and of itself. Previously, you’d see four options stacked vertically, and they’d each stretch across the screen. While those buttons were rounded and bubbly before, the revamp cranks it up a notch. The buttons are now arranged in a 2 x 4 grid, and they’re even more rounded. If you’re wondering where the Trash option went, well, it’s now under the Merge & Fix menu. That option’s new along with the Import from file and Export from file options. If you don’t see this update, don’t worry, as it’s still rolling out to users.
