The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are contenders for smartphone of the year. Of course, they will need to beat out the latest from Samsung, as well as OnePlus, ASUS and others. But these phones look to check every single box out there. Pixel 6 sports a 6.4-inch FHD+ display, with a 90Hz refresh rate. Along with a 4614mAh capacity battery. While the Pixel 6 Pro has a larger 6.7-inch QHD+ 120Hz refresh rate display, and a 5000mAh capacity battery inside. The biggest batteries and displays ever in a Pixel smartphone. Otherwise, the specs are very similar. These are the first to run on Google’s own chipset, the Tensor SoC. The Pixel 6 sports 8GB of RAM, and 12GB on the Pro. Both start with 128GB of storage and offer a 256GB model. And of course, they get a brand new camera sensor.

Google finally gives Pixel a new camera sensor

After nearly four years of using the same Sony sensor as the main camera on the Pixel, Google has upgraded it. Gone is that 12-megapixel main sensor, and in is a new 50-megapixel sensor. This sensor is used on both Pixel 6 models. And they also get a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor. While the Pro adds a 48-megapixel telephoto sensor. This is big news for the Pixel 6, as the sensor on previous Pixels was good, but really showing its age. Now with this increased resolution, this camera should be one of the best on the market. Of course, we already have high expectations for this camera, thanks to Google exceeding our expectations every single year with the Pixel.
