The Google Pixel Fold surfaced in a listing under ‘Google Felix’ codename
The Pixel Fold appeared under the ‘Google Felix’ codename. That is not surprising, as the ‘Felix’ codename has been reported to be its codename, a codename of Google’s upcoming foldable smartphone. Now, do note that the Pixel Fold name hasn’t been confirmed just yet. That is the name we’re using, as a tipster said it’s also used internally. That may be its final name. In any case, the Pixel Fold managed to score 1,047 points in the single-core test on Geekbench. It scored 3,257 points in the multi-core test on the platform. This is likely a pre-production unit, though, so keep that in mind.
It is expected to arrive in May 2023
This listing does reveal that the phone will ship with Android 13, as expected. The Pixel Fold is expected to arrive in mid-2023, alongside the Pixel Tablet. That could happen during Google I/O 2023, in May. The Google Tensor G2 SoC is also confirmed in the listing. That is Google’s second-gen SoC, which the company used in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro handsets. It’s the most powerful chip Google has at the moment. This particular variant of the Pixel Fold has 12GB of RAM. It’s possible that will be the only variant, actually. Geekbench did not reveal any additional details about the phone. The PIxel Fold did surface in CAD-based renders recently, and chances are those are accurate. The phone will be quite expensive, if the reports are accurate. It’s expected to cost $1,799 when it launches. If you’d like to know more about the device, check out our Pixel Fold preview.
