According to official release notes, Android 13 Beta 2.1 fixes four issues that users and developers have reported on the previous build. One of those is the Pixel Launcher search bar not showing any autocomplete suggestions when you type some text. It only showed blank boxes where the suggestions should appear. Google says the latest release will fix the issue. However, the folks over at 9to5Google noticed the search suggestions are still broken. The boxes don’t show any text with Android 13 Beta 2.1 and the Google app beta version 13.20 installed. Google notes that this issue may exist in some unexplained cases. Hopefully, a server-side update will enable search suggestions for users soon. The boxed layout for suggestions, meanwhile, is a new change rolling out as part of Android 13. The changes apply to the Pixel launcher search bar as well as the Google search app. In addition to this, Android 13 Beta 2.1 fixes an issue where the device would crash and restart when turning on the hotspot or disconnecting from Android Auto. An issue with a continuous call dialing sound ringing in the background during phone calls has also been fixed.
Google is rolling out Android 13 Beta 2.1 to Pixel phones
The Android 13 Beta 2.1 update is now rolling out to eligible Pixel 4, 4 XL, 4a, 4a 5G, Pixel 5, 5a, Pixel 6, and 6 Pro devices. The new build number is TPBB.220414.018 and it still bundles the May 2022 Android security patch. All Pixel users on Android 13 Beta 2 will receive the update over the air (OTA) within a few days. As said earlier, it’s a minor update, with the OTA package weighing just 11.80MB for the Pixel 4a. It should be a similar download size for other devices as well. Do note that the latest Android 13 beta is not entirely bug-free. There are still several know issues. So the new software package could be unstable and certain features may not function as intended at times. Google will continue to fix the known issues, as well as any other issues discovered down the line, ahead of the stable release of the new Android version later this year. We will keep you posted.
