Using the multi-pinning feature, Google Meet users will be able to pin multiple video feeds on their Google Meet page. Moreover, the picture-in-picture mode allows you to open a miniature window of the ongoing call at the bottom of the screen. In order to use the picture-in-picture, or PiP, feature in Google Meet, all you need to do is tap on the three-dot icon next to the hang-up button. Here, you will see a new “Open picture-in-picture” option. Tapping on this will open miniature windows of the call on the right corner of your screen. You will be able to easily put the PiP window to full screen by tapping the “Bring the call back here” button. The PiP windows on top of Chrome show up to four Google Meet tiles. Each stream will be presented with the name of the person and show other status icons.

These Google Meet features are available to users with personal Google Accounts as well

Hovering over the status icons, you could easily mute, disable video, end the call, or go back fullscreen. That comes in pretty handy when you are dealing with a class or in a meeting. For meetings and classes, Google Meet also gets the ability to pin not just one, but multiple video feeds. Google says that the update containing Picture-in-Picture (PiP) and multi-pinning is rolling out for users starting today. These features will be available to Google Meet users on all Google Workspace accounts, as well as legacy G Suite, Basic, and Business accounts. It will also be available to users with personal Google accounts. These additions also join the list of recently introduced features such as automatically removing reverberations along with the background noise in video calls. Furthermore, Google Meet also provided more options for the hosts and cohosts of a call. As such, they can now have three options when removing participants from a call. This includes the option to simply remove the user from the call, fill out an abuse report, and add or block the user from rejoining the call. If you haven’t received the update, then you might have to wait for a while before the update goes live in your region.
