Google’s first foldable smartphone to launch in Q4 2022

Ross Young actually talked about the display size on that device, which is something we reported on yesterday. In the comments, though, he was asked when the device is coming. As a response, he simply wrote “Q4”. This particular analyst is usually spot on with his information, so chances are this is it. We expected Google to announce its first foldable this year, in either Q3 or Q4, and it seems like it’s finally coming in the last quarter. What we do not know at this point, is whether it will launch alongside the Pixel 7 series, or not. Google will announce the Pixel 7 series in either September or October, most likely. If they arrive in October, it’s possible this foldable phone will launch alongside them. It remains to be seen. Google may opt to host a separate event for that device, of course. There’s certainly plenty to talk about, so… it’s an option. We’ll likely get more information as we come closer to the launch event(s). It’s still too early to say.

Google I/O is right around the corner

Google I/O is right around the corner, and Google may share more information there. The company may give us a little bit of information, or at least a teaser of some sort, we’ll see. Google I/O kicks off on May 11. It seems like this smartphone will have a smaller cover display than the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It is rumored to measure 5.8 inches, compared to a 6.19-inch cover display on the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The inner display will be similar in size, though. This probably means that Google’s foldable will have a wider display than Samsung’s. So, it may be closer to the OPPO Find N’s display aspect ratio. Google’s first foldable was referred to as the Pixel Fold and Pixel Notepad in the past. We’re still not sure what name will Google go for. Perhaps it will be one of these two, perhaps something entirely different, we’ll see.
