Google actually shared a ton of information about the Pixel 6 lineup, and it even named its upcoming SoC the other day. The company did not really reveal any specifics about the chip, but the source managed to get the aforementioned info.
The Google Tensor will become the company’s first-ever SoC, and it will be a 5nm chip
The Google Tensor will be the company’s very first processor, which has been in the works for a long time now. The Pixel 6’s camera, battery, and overall performance are supposed to benefit from this chip. Needless to say, considering that Google designed this chip on its own, makes it possible for them to completely adapt it to the upcoming devices, as it has all the control over its performance and so on. The company already teased some interesting camera features. Thanks to this chip and AI, the Google Camera will be able to deblur faces. It will also have some amazing HDR capabilities, which should boost video recording quality quite a bit.

On top of all that, Google is including new, large camera sensors on these two phones, after using the same 12.2-megapixel camera sensor for years. With Google’s software, backed by the Tensor chip, those cameras are expected to shine. The battery life should see the benefit as well, as Google is in complete control, and can optimize everything to the extremes. We can’t help but think of Apple and its SoC when we talk about the Google Tensor. All in all, we do have high hopes for this processor, and what Google will do with it. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro launch date is still some time away. We don’t know when exactly will the two phones launch, but Google did say they’re coming in the Fall.
