Before we get started, though, let us first explain what this feature is. The media player feature can be found right below your quick settings tiles when you pull down the notification shade. In there, Android 12 registers the media content you’ve been playing recently, giving you quick access to it. You can play/pause your songs/video from here, or you can skip between media files quickly. You can also access the app that is playing said media. On top of all that, you can change the output device of the audio, in case you have Bluetooth headphones connected, or something of the sort.
It’s a neat little feature to have. This card will become visible the moment you start playing a media file, presuming that the app playing it has access to a specific Android 12 API. When you pause that file, the card will still sit below your quick toggles. Do note that you can fire up both music and video files, and both will sit up there, separately, you’ll be able to scroll between them. Having said that, let us show you how to enable/disable this feature.
How to enable/disable media player quick toggle in Android 12
This feature is enabled by default on Android 12. If you don’t like it, however, you can easily disable it. The first thing you’ll need to do is access your phone’s settings. Swipe up on the home screen, and find the “Settings” app.
There, you’ll need to access the “Sounds & vibration” menu.
In it, there is a new submenu called “Media”, tap on it.
Here you’ll see two options. The first is called “Pin media player”, which essentially enables/disables this feature. The second has to do with media recommendations. The first option is the one we’re interested in. If you don’t want this feature to be active, simply toggle the option, and disable it, that’s it.
