The Galaxy S22 and S22+ key specs get leaked
While the Galaxy S22 Ultra will be the most interesting of the three phones, we can’t forget about the other two variants. Thanks to Evan Blass, we got a bunch of useful information about these two phones. Firstly, it’s now confirmed that these two phones will be using the new 4nm Exynos 2200 SoC. This is Samsung’s new chip that was created in collaboration with AMD. Samsung presented this chip and showcased some of what it could do.
Let’s start with the displays
Samsung is not going to ditch the punch-hole in any of its phones anytime soon, it seems. The Galaxy S22 will have a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. This display will have a Full HD+ resolution. Regardless of the modest resolution, it will still be an HDR-compatible display that can both run at 120Hz and reach 1,300 nits of brightness. The Galaxy S22+ will have a larger 6.6-inch display with the same Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology. This phone will share the Full HD+ resolution, HDR support, and 1,300 nit brightness with the lower-tier variant. Both variants have their pinch-holes right in the middle, as always.
Then, there are the cameras
The new silicon under the hood brings some exciting improvements to these phones’ cameras. Both of these phones share the same camera packages. They have a triple-camera setup on the rear with a single camera upfront. On the back, both phones have a 50MP main camera (F/1.8 aperture), a 12MP ultrawide camera (F/2.2 aperture), and a 10MP telephoto camera (F/2.4 aperture). The leak didn’t tell us how far the telephoto camera can zoom optically, but the phone can zoom in a maximum of 30X. Upfront, both phones have a 10MP selfie camera (F2.2 aperture). Thanks to the added power in the Exynos 2200 SoC, the video capabilities of these phones are pretty insane. They can actually record up to 8K HDR video.
Other bits of information
The leak didn’t tell us the battery capacities just yet, but it does let us know that these phones will support fast charging; 25Watt for the regular variant and 45Watt for the Plus model. Other than that, the phones will come with a USB-C to USB-C cord in the box with a SIM removal tool.
