The mobile device market is growing in many ways. Smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and other devices are seeing an increase in their markets. While that’s to be expected, it’s always good to hear about expansion in the mobile device market.

There were more than 1 billion Android devices activated last year

Just a few years ago, during a Google I/O event, the company announced that it crossed the 2 billion Android phone milestone. Last year, it announced 3 billion. Today, we got news that the number of activated Android phones increased by more than a billion just last year. This shows that the rate of Android phone adoption is increasing. This isn’t only for phones, however. During the event, it was announced that more than 270 million new Android tablets were sold last year. This is good news because Google is working more on Android tablets. We can tell that the Pixel 6 probably contributed to this increase. According to the company, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro sold more than the Pixel 4 and the Pixel 5 phones combined already. This says a lot because the phones did have their issues when they came out.  It seems that, despite the issues, the Pixel 6 phones were really popular devices.

Other news from Google I/O

There was a lot of interesting stuff announced at Google I/O today. We were able to get our first glance at the Google Pixel 6a. As expected, the Pixel 6a will retain the same design aesthetic present in the Pixel 6 phones. It will still have the large visor on the back with a dual-camera setup. There will be a 12-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera. While the camera technology is different from the Pixel 6, the Pixel 6a will still be able to utilize Google’s Real Tone and Nighttime photography features. There will also be some changes to the magic eraser. The visor seems to have shrunk a little bit, and the cameras seem to have a ring around them. Other than that, this seems like a copy of the Pixel 6. Google confirmed that the Pixel 6a will use the Tensor Chip present in the Pixel 6 phones. The Pixel 6a will launch in three colors on July 21st. It will start at $449. That’s $50 more than the $399 that we got with a pixel 3a, but it has a flagship chip and some new features.
