Maintenance Mode is a new feature Samsung has developed for its Galaxy devices. It lets you hide your apps, photos, messages, and other personal data from the phone when handing it over to someone else. Well, as the name suggests, the feature is particularly developed to protect your data and recent misuse when leaving your phone in a service center for repair or service. Maintenance Mode ensures that repair technicians can’t access your data. You can enable Maintenance Mode from the “Battery and device care” menu in the Settings app. Once enabled, restart your phone and it will load with a separate user account. All of your apps and other data are hidden. Technicians can still use the device normally, thus allowing them to work on it efficiently. They can download new apps and generate new data. But all of that is deleted automatically when exiting Maintenance Mode, which will require identity verification, of course.

Samsung adds Maintenance Mode to the Galaxy A33 5G

This is the first software update for the Galaxy A33 5G since it picked up Android 13 last month. The big Android update brought the October security patch to the device. It is now gaining the November SMR along with Maintenance Mode. The rollout has begun in Europe with firmware version A336BXXU4BVKB. Since this Galaxy model is only eligible for quarterly security updates, it may never get the December security patch. Perhaps the Galaxy A33 5G may miss out on the November SMR in some other markets and directly jump to the latest release. Moreover, the handset is still pending the Android 13 update in some regions, including Latin America. Maintenance Mode could come bundled with the big Android release there. And if Samsung is generous enough, add the December patch to the mix. Either way, if you’re using a Galaxy A33 5G, you can expect to get Samsung’s Maintenance Mode sooner or later. As usual, the update will gradually roll out to all eligible units globally in the coming weeks. You can check for it by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install on your phone. If you don’t see any updates, wait a few days and check again.
