Qualcomm is offering its Wi-Fi 7-enabled third-gen Networking Pro Series on four different platforms. They range from 6 to 16 streams and are available in either tri-band or quad-band configurations. The company is promising up to 33.1 Gbps peak wireless capacity over 16 streams and quad-band configurations, with peak throughputs over 10 Gbps. Along with the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands that the current Wi-Fi standard use, Wi-Fi 7 can also leverage much wider 320Mhz channels as well as 4K quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) technology....

Notably, as per a report by The Verge, Facebook is testing the Facebook Reels feature for some users. This move will make Facebook appear slightly more TikTok-ish for some users. During the testing phase, this new feature will be live for users in the News Feed and within Groups. The availability in Groups makes it easier for people to watch Reels together. There is a nice advantage for those who extensively make use of the Reels feature on Instagram....
The lawsuit came from a Swiss company known as SQWIN SA. The firm alleges that Samsung Pay infringes on its patent pertaining to the electronic payments system. SQWIN SA seemingly has a patent registered in Russia, with the court citing the patent numbers. Samsung refused to comment on the development, adding that it is appealing the ruling. SQWIN SA’s initial claim was backed by the court on July 27, although it did not provide further information....

According to Samsung (via Android Police), the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ both use the same display component that supports 48Hz to 120Hz variable refresh rates. However, the devices also feature a proprietary technology that dictates data transfer rates between the processor and the display. It lets the processor feed data to the display at a rate as low as 10Hz. This presumably helps save power. Samsung claims it referred to this proprietary technology when it said the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ both feature variable refresh rates from 10Hz to 120Hz....
Earlier today, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) published the documentation for a smartphone design patent from Samsung. The device is referred to as a “multi-folding electronic apparatus,” which is essentially a foldable smartphone. But it isn’t like the existing Galaxy Z Flip clamshell foldable. While it still folds horizontally, it is extendable as well. When folded, this phone will be as compact as the Galaxy Z Flip3. You can unfold it to get a full-sized smartphone screen....
Samsung’s online shop confirms this. Unfortunately, the packaging only includes the USB-C data cable and not the power brick. Which means you’ll have to use an existing ac adapter or plug it into a USB port somewhere that can deliver power. Logically speaking, it would be reasonable to think that Samsung’s decision for leaving the ac adapter out is driven by more sustainable packaging. Less items in the box could potentially lead to a smaller box which means less packaging....
The Korean behemoth’s semiconductor and smartphone divisions work independently. They have a buy-sell relationship. The smartphone unit uses Exynos processors from its sister firm in its products. But Exynos chipsets have historically underperformed rivaling solutions from the likes of Qualcomm and MediaTek, particularly in the flagship segment. They are less power-efficient and have always had issues with thermal management. Perhaps the problem is with the semiconductor division’s chip fabrication tech....
Additionally, a couple of Object Eraser sub-components, i.e., Shadow Eraser and Reflection Eraser, are picking up new updates too. The new version number for these two Photo Editor features is also 1.1.00.3. Samsung has likely optimized these features for more effective editing. Its Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update for Galaxy devices already improves the built-in Photo Editor. These separate updates for its components should now make it even better....
Despite competing with each other in several industries, Samsung and LG have collaborated on multiple occasions over the years. So this news doesn’t come as a surprise.
