Google says Pixel 6 series broke “quarterly sales record”
Now, as most of you know, Google never releases exact sales numbers. Sundar Pichai did say the following, though: “In Q4, we set all all-time quarterly sales record for Pixel”. That basically confirms things, even without specific numbers. Mr. Pichai also added that the company managed to do this despite “an extremely challenging supply-chain environment”. He also added that the response regarding the Pixel 6 has been “incredibly positive”, and that goes for both customers and carriers. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro response has been mostly positive, bugs aside. Both phones have had their fair share of issues with bugs, which Google has been working hard to fix. Other than that, the company managed to release really compelling devices.
The Pixel 6 price tag probably helped things quite a bit
The Pixel 6’s price tag is quite appealing, while it offers most of what the Pixel 6 Pro offers. The company came up with a brand new design, which is easily recognizable, and it finally upgraded the main camera sensor on its Pixel lineup. Now, in terms of Google’s report, the company doesn’t exactly break out hardware into its own category. So Mr. Pichai’s statement is basically all that we have at this point. Hardware sales are a part of the company’s “Google Services” department, and that includes Android, Chrome, Google Maps, Search, Google Play, and YouTube. So, we can’t even get approximate hardware sales info. That segment, as a whole, did really well for Google, as it improved considerably YoY. We’re looking at a revenue of $69 billion, which is up from $52.8 billion in 2022. We’re looking at an operating income of $26 billion, up from $19 billion in Q4 2020. Once again, this is just the “Google Services” segment.
