The first spotted feature is a new download progress indicator that floats on the page and lets you see how the app download process is going. Traditionally, the only way to see the downloading status of an app in the Google Play store is to check it through the notification bar or stay on the page. The download bubble allows you to browse freely in the Play Store while keeping an eye on the downloading process. The outlet says they could enable the bubble through the notification setting menu and by pressing the “Show install progress bubble” toggle. You can move the bubble around the screen or drag it to the bottom to dismiss it.

Google brings Android app archiving and download progress bubbles to the Play Store

The second feature on the way to the Play store is the Android app archiving. Back in November, Google announced that “app archiving” is coming to the Play store, and now it’s almost here. The feature reportedly allows users to uninstall an Android app but keep all personal data for the app. This could be very practical for the times when you run out of storage space. Of course, after archiving an app, you can later “Restore” it and find your previous data untouched. You don’t even need to log into your account again. After pressing the “Restore” button, a new page opens for you that demonstrates the process of restoring, just like installing an app. None of these features are yet available for public use, and the release date is still unknown. Of course, both features are spotted in the active testing phase and are now available for testers. We can expect to get them in the next couple of months.
