Lee Young-hee is a marketing expert and has been working with Samsung since 2007. She switched from the popular French cosmetics company L’Oreal. The Korean firm credits Young for contributing greatly to enhancing the brand value of its Galaxy devices. It promoted her to the position of Vice President in 2012. And a decade later, she has become Samsung’s first-ever female President. The company would be hoping for Young’s appointment as President to serve as an inspiration for other female workers within the organization while she continues to promote the Galaxy brand.
Samsung announces nine new names for various President roles
As said earlier, Lee Young-hee is one of nine new names in Samsung’s President group. We have six more promotions from Vice President to President. These include Kim Woo-joon (Network Business Department, DX Division), Nam Seok-woo (Global Manufacturing & Infrastructure, DS Division), Song Jae -hyeok (Semiconductor Research Center, DS Division), Baek Soo-hyun (Communication Team, DX Division), Park Seung -hee (Corporate Relations, Samsung Electronics), and Yang Gul (Strategic Cooperation Office, Samsung China). Additionally, Samsung has appointed Jeon Gyeong-hoon, who was previously the President of the Network Business Department in the DX Division, as the CTO and President of Samsung Research in the same division. Finally, Seung Hyun-joon takes up the role of the President of Global R&D Cooperation, Samsung Research in the DX Division. This is Samsung’s first notable corporate reshuffle since the company’s de-facto leader Lee Jae-yong took over as the Executive Chairman in October. The post has been vacant since his father’s death in October 2020. Lee was serving a jail term during that time and couldn’t formally resume control of the company. He walked out on parole in August last year and received a presidential pardon in August of this year. The Chairman has now made his first corporate appointments. Samsung hasn’t appointed a new President for its home appliance business yet, though. Former President Lee Jae-seung resigned in October citing personal reasons. The company’s co-CEO Han Jong-hee has been overseeing the duty since then. Since the Korean giant is continuing its dual-CEO system, it will likely find a new head for its home appliance business soon.
