There are two reasons why the Galaxy S21 FE may not launch at all

That official said that the October launch event has been cancelled, and that the company is trying to decide whether to launch the product at all. There are actually two reasons why Samsung may cancel the device altogether. The main reason is the global chip shortage. The Galaxy S21 FE is supposed to ship with the Snapdragon 888, and also come in an Exynos 2100 variant. Samsung would most likely only used the Snapdragon 888 if not for the global chip shortage. The company may be having issues with getting enough chips despite the fact it’s considering using two different processors. The Galaxy S21 FE is expected to be in high demand, even if it launches late. So, Samsung is worried about the supply of chips. Also, it could use those chips elsewhere. The second reason Samsung may cancel it altogether is the Galaxy Z Flip 3. The demand for that phone surprised Samsung, the device is doing really well in the market. That phone is also fueled by the Snapdragon 888, so… Samsung could put that chip to use in the Z Flip 3 instead.

The thing is, Samsung wants to ensure it has enough flagship chips for other products

The bottom line is, the company wants to ensure it has enough chips for everything, and it may sacrifice the S21 FE to be able to produce other phones as planned, especially the Z Flip 3. Samsung’s Galaxy S20 FE handset launched last year, and was the first of its kind. It was a flagship killer, of sorts, and quite a few people were interested in it. It combined high-end specs, with a rather affordable price tag, which caused its popularity. The Galaxy S21 FE was supposed to use a similar formula. It was supposed to look like a cross between the Galaxy S20 FE and S21, and use rather powerful specs. Its price tag was also supposed to be quite affordable. That device was actually expected to launch in August, but Samsung moved the launch due to a chip shortage. At this point, we really wonder if it will launch at all.
