Firstly, the Galaxy S23 will not have a camera bump at the back. Each of the three rear cameras and the LED flash will protrude out of the back panel individually. You may have already seen this camera design on many other Galaxy smartphones, including the Galaxy S22 Ultra and a bunch of budget and mid-range models. Samsung is now bringing it to the vanilla and Plus models of its flagship series, which previously had a single housing for rear cameras. This redesign means the recessed area for the rear cameras on the Galaxy S23 protective case is thinner. The leaked protective case also confirms that the camera lenses on the Galaxy S23 will be bigger. Well, we don’t yet know the specs of the lenses. Perhaps rumors are that Samsung won’t change things much in terms of camera hardware. But the circular opening on the outside is bigger, something the leaked renders showed. Since the sensors are still stacked vertically, the outline is bigger. It remains to be seen how this change affects the stability of the phone when kept on its back. Note that this camera layout redesign applies to all three Galaxy S23 models. Of course, the current Ultra already has its rear cameras protruding individually. But its success is also getting bigger lens openings. The leaked case shows the button placement is unchanged, at least on the base model. All holes and ports will also likely retain their respective positions.
The Galaxy S23 series may arrive in early 2023
Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 series on February 9 this year. Based on that, we expected the company to unveil the Galaxy S23 series around the same time next year. But rumors are that the firm is mulling an early release for its next-gen flagships. We don’t yet have a precise timeframe, but the Galaxy S23 trio may arrive a week or two earlier than their predecessors. With leaks starting to come thick and fast, it’s only a matter of time before we have a tentative launch date too.
