The US versions of the Galaxy S23 series pick up FCC certification

The FCC has certified the US versions of the Galaxy S23 with the model number SM-S911U, Galaxy S23+ with SM-S916U, and Galaxy S23 Ultra with SM-S918U. We have already seen these model numbers in various other leaks and certification listings, sometimes with suffixes specific to the region. For example, the global versions of the phones have “B” at the end of the model number instead of “U,” while the Korean versions have “N”. Along with the three devices, the FCC also certified an S Pen. The accessory bears the model number EJ-PS918 (via). It will only come with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which is something its model number also suggests. Samsung started offering the stylus built-in with the Ultra model in the Galaxy S lineup last year, after discontinuing the much-loved Galaxy Note series. It is also said to be mulling over putting a built-in S Pen in the Galaxy Z Fold 5 next year. The latest FCC listings don’t reveal anything new about the Galaxy S23 series. It’s the usual stuff that we see on these certifications. The agency confirms the upcoming Samsung flagships will offer multi-band 4G LTE and 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth LE (Low Energy), Bluetooth EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), NFC, UWB (Ultra Wideband), wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging. The latter feature lets you wirelessly charge your TWS earbuds or Galaxy Watch on the back of the phone. The charging speed isn’t mentioned, but earlier rumors hinted at 25W charging support on all three models. The Galaxy S23 Ultra can go up to 45W but there’s no confirmation yet. As for the battery capacity, we are expecting a 3,900mAh unit inside the Galaxy S23 and a 4,700mAh one inside the Galaxy S23+. That’s 200mAh more than what their respective predecessors offered. The Galaxy S23 Ultra, however, will retain the current Ultra’s 5,000mAh battery. Samsung isn’t stuffing more power inside this beast of a phone.

The new Samsung flagships may arrive in February 2023

Samsung hasn’t officially said a word about the Galaxy S23 series yet. It’s still too early for that. Rumors are that the company plans to unveil the new flagships in early February next year. The mass production of the devices is said to begin later this month. However, leaks have already revealed a lot about them. And the leaks will only get more information-rich as Samsung progresses with the development of the devices. We will let you know as soon as we have more information to share.
