The latest update for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra is rolling out in Europe with firmware version G98FXXSFGVK1 for the 4G models and G98BXXSFGVK1 for their 5G counterparts, SamMobile reports. Since this release comes right on the heels of a big Android update, there isn’t anything major to look forward to here. Samsung is only seeding the vulnerability fixes that are part of the November SMR for its Android devices. Speaking of vulnerability fixes, Samsung has already revealed that the new release patches more than 60 privacy and security issues on its devices. Of course, not all of those impact every Galaxy model, but the majority do. More than half of the fixes are for Android OS issues and expectedly come from Google. The Android maker says it patched three critical problems in Android devices this month. The remaining fixes are for Galaxy-specific problems. These issues don’t exist in Android devices from other brands.
Galaxy S20 phones running Android 13 get the November security update
If you’re using Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, or Galaxy S20 Ultra in Europe, the November SMR should soon roll out to you with all of the aforementioned vulnerability fixes. Users in other regions where the Android 13 update arrived with the October patch should also receive this release. But in markets like the US, where Samsung has yet to roll out Android 13 for the Galaxy S20 series, the November SMR may be clubbed with the big update. Debuted with Android 10 in early 2020, this is the last major Android OS upgrade for the Galaxy S20 phones. They will not get Android 14. Nonetheless, you can check for updates on your Galaxy smartphone from the Settings app. Go to the Software update menu and tap on Download and install. If an update is available, you will be prompted to download it. Your phone will restart automatically to complete the installation. But if you don’t see any update, wait a few days and check again. Note that the Android 13 will weigh around 2GB. So if you’re on a limited mobile data plan, we recommend downloading the update over a Wi-Fi network.
