The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will likely launch on November 14

That being said, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will likely become official during the first day of the event. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 actually arrived not long ago, and we really don’t know much about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Some info did surface recently, though. A well-known tipster reported that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 did really well in initial energy efficiency tests. He said that it beat the Snapdragon 888, 8 Gen 1, and 8+ Gen 1. That’s basically everything we know about that chip at this point. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 did, however, bring slightly better performance than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and noticeably better power consumption. On top of that, it offers better thermals as well.

Let’s hope the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 won’t heat up as much

We’re not sure how much of a step forward will the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 be in that regard, but the aforementioned report does seem promising. The biggest problem with Qualcomm’s SoC in the last couple of years was the thermals. The Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 are quite toasty. OEMs can counter that with fancy cooling systems, but not everyone opts for those. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will be a significant improvement, though, so let’s hope the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will continue in that direction. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will fuel a ton of smartphones next year, most likely. The Galaxy S23 series is expected to utilize it, along with next-gen flagships from various other companies, including OnePlus, Vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi, Motorola, and many more, as is the case every year. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon flagship processors end up being quite popular year-in, year-out.
