Whether it’s a donut statue for Android 1.6, a pie statue for Android 9, or a lollipop for Android 5, we’ve become familiar with these statues that adorn the campus at Google headquarters. Each statue displays the treat relevant to the version of Android. This trend, unfortunately, ended with Android 9 being the last version with a treat name.

The Android statues at Google headquarters are gone

But, for some reason, the remaining statues at the Google headquarters are missing. According to Android Authority, visitors who walk past the campus at the company’s Mountain View headquarters are noticing that the Android statues there are gone. There were statues that represented Android Cupcake (1.5), Donut (1.6), Eclaire (2.0), Froyo (2.2), Gingerbread (2.3), Honeycomb (3), Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0), Jellybean (4.1), Kitkat (4.4), Lollipop (5.0), Marshmallow (6), Nuegot (7), Oreo (8), and Pie (9). They mostly populated a small patch of land on the campus, but now, they’ve been removed, leaving it as “just a dirt patch”, according to one visitor. Google hasn’t commented on why it took the statues down. It’s unlikely that the company is trying to negate the dessert names of the past. The internal nickname given to Android 13 is “Tiramisu“. We don’t know why the Android statues are gone, but we’ll hopefully have an answer eventually. We might see them back in the same spot before we know it.

What’s new with Android 13?

Google released the second Android 13 developer, and it brought some notable changes. The Media player will have some changes, for starters. The notification itself will take up more space, and the album art will fill the entire notification. The quick settings will also have a change. The power options and the system setting will move to the bottom of the notifications shade along with the profile switcher. The profile switcher will also have a chip in the status bar. You can edit your text before you put it in the clipboard. A preview will pop up right after you copy text. You’ll use that pop-up to change the text before you send it to your clipboard. There are a lot more changes coming to Android 13, as we’re just at the beginning.
