This week, the highly anticipated Steam Deck portable gaming PC from Valve will be launching. It’ll be made available initially to the first wave of reservation holders. Who will be allowed to purchase the machine Friday morning. Emails to buy the Steam Deck will start to roll out at 10AM PST. So, keep an eye on your emails if your expected ship time is listed as Q1 2022. Because you should be getting an email the morning of launch day. Those who do get an email, will have 72 hours to complete the purchase or their reservation will be released to the next person in the queue. In short, don’t waste time. Buy it as soon as you can after you receive the email, but no later than the 72-hour mark or you’ll be kicked out of the queue and have to make a brand-new reservation.

The Dock for the Steam Deck should launch late Spring

Valve doesn’t have an exact date for the launch of the Dock. It does however note that the expected availability for the launch will be sometime in late Spring. Which probably puts the launch around May. This doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to use the Steam Deck to play games on bigger screens. You will still be able to connect the Steam Deck to a TV or monitor using the USB-C port. The Dock simply makes it easier to connect to a TV or monitor. It also gives the Steam Deck more visual appeal because it can sit in the Dock while connected. Not to mention it adds more ports, to which you can use for connecting wired peripherals. Valve still hasn’t mentioned how much the Dock accessory will cost. But you can bet it will probably offer up that information closer to the accessory’s release.
