ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Samsung‘s Galaxy A21 is receiving the Android 12 update in the US. The budget phone from 2020 is getting the Korean firm’s One UI Core 4.1 custom software with the new Android version. The rollout began a few days back for the carrier-locked models and comes with firmware version A215USQU7CVI3 (via). Unlocked models should also get the update soon. This update brings a lot of changes to the Galaxy A21. Samsung has made several tweaks to the system UI with new design elements, icons, animations, and more. You can further customize the UI to your liking thanks to the Color Palette. It lets you apply unique colors to system UI elements based on the color scheme of your wallpaper. As an added layer to your privacy, Android 12-based One UI Core 4.1 lets you share your approximate location with apps that don’t need the precise location. A Clipboard Protection feature keeps your passwords, credit card numbers, and other sensitive information safe. Samsung has improved its stock apps such as Samsung Internet, Calendar, Samsung Keyboard, Gallery, and others. In the camera app, you now get to see the magnification level. Video recording also starts as soon as you touch the shutter button. Earlier, it began after you release your finger from the shutter. Portrait mode now works with pets as well. Last but not least, we have new and improved widgets, enhanced Dark Mode, new accessibility features, improved brightness control, and enhanced search in My Files.

The Galaxy A21 gets its last Android update

The Android 12 update for the Galaxy A21 also brings the July security patch. It contains fixes for over 60 vulnerabilities, including 41 Galaxy-specific flaws. Samsung has already pushed the September security patch to most of its eligible devices and is expected to release the October patch soon. The Galaxy A21 is only eligible for two security updates in a year, though. So it will not get many of those. Unfortunately, this is also the last major Android OS update for the phone. Debuting with Android 10 in the first half of 2020, it has already picked up the promised two Android updates. Nonetheless, if you’re using a carrier-locked Galaxy A21 in the US, Android 12 is now rolling out to you. Watch out for a notification prompting you to download the update. It’s a huge download over the air (OTA), so we advise you to connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading. Galaxy A21 users in other regions can also look forward to this update.
