It’ll give users access to a decent amount of information about available titles. Including the latest games that have been added as well as those that are leaving the service soon. The widget can also show users a variety of games from highlighted categories. Right now, the Xbox Game Pass widget is only available to Windows 11 Insiders. On top of that not all insiders have access. Microsoft says that it’s beginning to roll the widget out to select users and it wants to gather feedback before rolling it out to everyone. Which suggests that there are still potential changes to be made to the widget before it receives a full launch. For those that do have access, Microsoft is encouraging users to share what they’d like to see in the widget or if they notice anything strange or unexpected.

Setting up the Xbox Game Pass widget is pretty simple

If you’re a Windows 11 insider and have access, setting up the widget only takes a few steps. First, open up the widgets board. You should see a plus symbol next to your profile avatar. Click on that to add a new widget to the board. Then click on the plus symbol next to the Xbox Game Pass option. After that close the settings menu and the Game Pass widget should now show up.

The widget provides a portal to the Xbox app

In addition to showing off the latest games and titles that will leave the Game Pass service soon, the widget also provides an access point to the Xbox app. If you find a title you might be interested in playing, you can click on it within the widget to be taken to the Xbox app. Where you can then download and install games, read reviews and more. Microsoft also plans to add more features to the widget. Such as personalized recommendations and easy access to a recently played game by signing into your Xbox profile. Microsoft says it’s “still hard at work” adding exciting new functionality to the widget and that it’s coming soon. But doesn’t offer any details as to exactly when.
