The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are expected to become official on March 15, as Xiaomi announced that launch event recently. Those two phones, and the Xiaomi 12X, launched in China at the end of last year.
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is tipped to launch in Q2 2022, which means it has been delayed
Why is Xiaomi waiting with the Xiaomi 12 Ultra launch? Well, the company allegedly wants to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+. In other words, it wants to use the TSMC-built Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. The ‘Ultra’ model surfaced yesterday, in some unofficial renders, which seem to be made for the phone’s cases. That’s not the only leak, though. It seems like the device will have a huge circular camera module on the back. Having said that, a separate report surfaced on Weibo, from the same source that reported the launch timeframe, Digital Chat Station. He also revealed some battery and charging information for the device.
120W charging will be a part of the package
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra will, seemingly, feature a 4,900mAh battery on the inside. The phone will also support 120W fast wired charging. It will also offer wireless charging, but we’re not sure how fast will it be. Chances are we’ll get 50W wireless charging here. Android 12 will come pre-installed on the device, of course, with Xiaomi’s MIUI skin on top of it. The phone will also include a large AMOLED display, which will be curved. That will likely be an LTPO 2.0 display with a 120Hz refresh rate. You can also expect Leica branding and optics to be a part of the package. Needless to say, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be more expensive than its siblings.
