Google partners with top Indian healthcare providers for improved access to information

At this year’s Google for India conference, the company announced several new features for YouTube in India. One of these is the ability to search for specific words or phrases within videos using artificial intelligence (AI). Therefore, if you see a button labelled “Search in video” below a long video in search results, you can tap on it and enter a search query. Using AI, Google will provide a list of all occurrences of the subject within the video, a more efficient method than skimming through a long video or navigating through its various chapters.

— Google India (@GoogleIndia) December 19, 2022 Another new feature for YouTube in India is the ability to automatically dub healthcare videos into regional Indian languages. Google has partnered with top Indian healthcare providers to make it easier for people who speak various languages to understand and access important healthcare information. To make this possible, Google is using AI/ML for the translation, dubbing, and transcription of videos with a single click. Healthcare providers only need to review the final results. Google is also working closely with Apollo Hospitals to test a new feature that provides a single video with multiple audio tracks in different languages. This will allow viewers to switch between languages at the click of a button.

Courses for YouTube: a new monetization option for creators

According to Google, YouTube is already the biggest place in the world for educational and skill-building videos. Therefore, to further enhance the learning experience for its users, YouTube will now allow content creators to offer a “structured learning experience” on its platform through a new program called Courses for YouTube. This program will initially be available to a selected group of qualified creators starting next year. This is the first time that Google has allowed creators to sell courses directly to their viewers on YouTube. In addition to the courses, creators will also be able to provide viewers with supplementary materials such as documents, images, PDFs, and more.

— YouTube India (@YouTubeIndia) December 19, 2022 The revenue share for courses sold through the platform will be the same as for regular videos: creators will receive a 55% cut, while YouTube will keep the remaining 45%. Ads will not be displayed in videos of courses that have been paid for by viewers. Courses for YouTube will launch in beta in the first half of 2023 in India. The beta phase will focus on three subject areas: digital skills, professional and entrepreneurial skills, and personal passions.
